Cinco de Mayo Happenings

If you're not going to spend Cinco de Mayo on Alma's amazing roof deck sipping blood orange margaritas or enjoying one of the incredible tequila flights at Elote, we have some slightly more questionable, but definitely more economical options to celebrate your (doubtful) Mexican heritage.

Tres De Mayo Bar Crawl
If Cinco De Mayo is more likely to bring out your inner frat  boy  than your inner revolutionary, do we have the event for you.  The Village Pourhouse, in true Animal House fashion, offers an all day bar crawl on Saturday as long as you put up $15 for that illustrious red cup.  Once you've paid admission, each of the 20+ bars on the crawl route are offering $1 Bud Light Drafts, $2 Coronas, Dos Equis, and Margaritas, and, for the big spenders, $3 for a shot of tequila.  Sadly, the $15 ticket won't cover your dry cleaning bill the next day.

For more info call 212-979-BEER.  Classy.

Free Tequila Shots
For the entire spectrum of Diageo tequila products, head down to East Village Wine & Liquors for free tequila shots from 5-8p.m.

Patron Party At Plumm
For those of you able to hold out until the actual Cinco de Mayo, Plumm is offering a marginally classier evening.  In true meat market fashion, the promoters are putting up a free bottle of Patron for every group of 10 ladies.  But, who needs the bottle when they're handing out shots of Patron for free?  Plumm also plans to ply the early birds with 2-for-1 drink specials and no cover for those crafty enough to sign up for the guest list beforehand.

Fiesta Romi
Romi is opening their doors for lunch, dinner, and cocktails starting Wednesday, May 5th.  They'll be passing around $5 margaritas, $14 pitchers of sangria and beer, and $4 tequila shots to compliment their free homemade guacamole, salsa, and quesadillas.   Grupo Saviero will provide the funky latin tunes, and they're even offering a door prize.  That's right, if you sign up, you'll be eligible to win the Pinata Prize of an open bar for 100 of your closest friends on their mezzanine bar.
And, if you're willing to go to EventMe.com and sign on for the event, the bar will give you a complimentary tequila shot.

Rounds of "Popo"
The drink specials start at noon today and won't end until closing time on Cinco de Mayo at one of the city's favorite Mexican haunts, El Maguey y La Tuna.  Stop by after 6 pm for flaming tequila shots, raffles, trivia, and "Popo" races.  No, you won't be chased by cops (at least not before you leave the restaurant), but you will be challenged to down pints of beer spiked with tequila.
