Tapes 'N Tapes @ Soundfix

After Tapes 'N Tapes wrapped their set at McCarren Park Pool yesterday, they made their way down the street to Soundfix for their official after party and extended acoustic encore.

The sweaty, scarved hipsters straight from the Pool mixed with the crowds (also scarved, but considerably less sweaty) already lined up outside of the venue, waiting for another chance to catch the band play just a few more songs.

Seeing the mob snaked around the block, several of the less dedicated fans abandoned the line, but in true Soundfix style, those who waited were rewarded by being packed tightly into the tiny space.

Tapes 'N Tapes delivered the kind of acoustic set you'd expect from a band coming down from a hot but huge outdoor show.  Still buzzed on the adrenaline, the guys delivered a quality set with old favorites and a considerable amount of new material (which the band admitted, one of the members had just learned that night).  The crowd gyrated and swayed to any recognizable sound, but resumed feigned boredom at the newer songs.  And, despite the element that invariably attends a Soundfix show, it's still one of my favorite venues in the city.
