WTF, APT: one club-goer says she got swindled at Meat Packing District nightspotBy Ekey
If it sounds like a scam, looks like a scam and reads like a scam, then chances are you ‘bout to get ripped off, kid. That seems to be the general idea coming from once famed APT NYC in the Meat Packing District. One former club goer-says when she went to the “I ordered two glasses of pinot grigio and one gin and tonic. The bill came to $36.17.I gave the waitress my credit card, she swiped it through, I signed for it, and closed my tab. We left 15 minutes later. This was midnight,” our source writes. But sometime around 2 a.m. and again at 4 a.m. someone at the club rang up another $700 on the credit card. The next day the patron called the club to ask “WTF?” When alerted to the possible criminal action and fraud claim, the good folks at APT, well, lied and then hung up on her. “The rude manager tells me he is “looking into it” and without taking any of my personal information, hangs up on me.” Sure, shitty door service and rude staff reviews can be subjective, but stealing someone’s money through credit card fraud is pretty cut and dry. Others have leveled similar charges against the past year against the club, which was hailed as one of the greatest nightspot by Zagat — back in 2001. But with each bad rating and accusation of poor service and scams, five super-duper positive reviews that read like a Sham-WOW commercial pop up in their place. We might tell you to avoid this place already — not that they would go anyway — but now we have a damned good reason to stay out. [Photo from lilita] |
